OUR STORY
A new chapter, with a lot of respect for what came before.
For more than 15 years, Lanterns Retreat was cared for by Serge Le Goueff and his family.
During that time, they created something that can't be manufactured or added to a brochure — a reputation for warmth, generosity and genuine hospitality. Guests returned, they recommended Lanterns to friends and many left with stories of the people who had welcomed them as much as the place itself.
When we took over Lanterns in May 2026, we knew we weren't starting from scratch. We were becoming custodians of something that already mattered to people. And we feel incredibly fortunate to be part of its next chapter.
Keeping What Matters
Our intention isn't to change Lanterns into something it isn't but rather care for what already makes it special while bringing our own energy, ideas and hospitality to the property.
Most importantly, we want guests to continue to feel genuinely welcome. We look forward to welcoming you

Why Hosted?
There is something lovely about being welcomed by a real person.
To simply say hello when you arrive, tell you where to find a beautiful stretch of coastline, where to have breakfast, which winery is worth visiting or where to watch the sunset.
That's what we mean by hospitality.
Not hovering. Not formal. Just being there to assist when you need.
A Promise Kept
We don't want to promise you a five-star resort - we're not one. We don't want to pretend Lanterns is a secluded wilderness retreat - it's not.
We're in Old Dunsborough, close to the beach, town and everything the South West has to offer. What we can promise is something much simpler:
A beautiful, comfortable place to stay. A warm welcome. A peaceful environment. A genuine host. Thoughtful touches. And the freedom to enjoy your time here your own way.
